Who Is Covering You?

When it is raining outside, do you grab an umbrella? When you go to the beach, do you put sunscreen on? When the sun is brightly shining, do you grab your sunglasses? If you go to the gym do you wear gloves while lifting weights or boxing? Our guess is you answered YES to all of these questions. So what do all of these items have in common? For each question, there is a "protection" if you will for the answer. We don't want to get wet, so we grab an umbrella to PROTECT us! We don't want skin cancer, so we use sunscreen to PROTECT our skin and so forth. Now the BIGGEST question we have for you is...Who or what is PROTECTING your relationship?

The other day we were at our park and noticed they had put a brand new covering over the play equipment. God was again speaking to us about "Who is our covering?" Are we covered? Are you covered?

What did the equipment gain from the covering? What did the children gain from the covering?

EQUIPMENT:

The equipment will last longer now that it is out of direct elements of the weather. The rain will not have access to batter it as it once did. The sun will not be able to discolor it and damage it with excessive heat.

CHILDREN:

The children will NOW be able to use this equipment at times in the past they could not use it due to weather. They can now slide on the slide and not have suffer burns and "ouchies."

The same applies to our relationships. As a husband and wife, we need a covering. God's design of a biblical relationship is truly a beautiful and well thought out design. Remember, God is the one that created us male and female in the first place. He is the One who knows what He equipped us with for this marriage relationship.

As seen in this illustration, there is a purpose and place for a husband, wife and children. God is ready and willing to be our covering. We just need to include Him and ask Him to be such. We are going to have storms of life challenge all our relationships. As for us, we definitely want the beautiful covering of God to help lessen the results of those storms!

Ecclesiastes 4:12 "A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken." This scripture is one of our favorites for our own marriage. We definitely promote couples to have each other's backs, yes, even when you are angry with your spouse! But more importantly, we need God to have our backs. Consider letting this be a scripture you pray over your marriage relationship daily. If Jesus is not covering your relationship currently, there is NO TIME like today to change this!
